Did you know that Brighton has a very colourful history? It is true. For example, did you know that pop supergroup ABBA actually won the Eurovision Song Contest with their entry: ‘Waterloo’ back in 1974.
But did you also know that the Eurovision Song Contest was held at Brighton Dome that year! It was the major event that helped to launch their career and rise to stardom.
The Brighton Dome is a fabulous arts and entertainment centre that boasts some fantastic events and attracts thousands of visitors each year. Look out for popular headline acts from the world of pop music that make the dome a regular event venue on their UK tour programmes.
You can check to see what’s on at the dome and book your Brighton seafront hotel to coincide with your chosen event.
EVEN MORE ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENTS!
If sitting on a beach for two-weeks doing nothing but sunbathing is not your thing, then you should seriously consider having a ‘staycation’ in beautiful Brighton!
The city by the sea has an amazing range of Arts, crafts, vintage, food, local produce and free entertainment. There truly is something for everyone in Brighton so it is an ideal destination for a family holiday or a short getaway from the stresses and strains of everyday life without having to travel for hours to enjoy.
Did you know for example that there are more restaurants in Brighton & Hove than anywhere else in the country? The area actually has a ratio of one restaurant for every 250 people, so you really will be spoilt for choice if you enjoy a relaxing evening out with some fine dining and quality wine.
If you want to let off some steam with your best friends for a weekend break, then Brighton is the place to go! With over 1,400 licensed premises and an average of one drinking establishment for every 320 people, you can find everything from fine wines and cocktails, to craft beers and everything in between lining the streets of Brighton & Hove.
A visit to the Royal Pavilion should definitely be on your cards. This iconic Brighton attraction is truly a one-of-a-kind building – and one-time home to British royalty. Did you know that back during the Second World War, the Germans were ordered not to target Brighton with their bombs because Hitler wanted to use the Royal Pavilion as his seaside retreat!
FANCY LAZING BY THE SEA?
When you think of some overseas destinations such as the Mediterranean, you may think of the sun sparkling off the surface of a rippling sea while sipping on a cool drink in the surrounds of an exclusive marina.
But did you know that Brighton Marina is the largest man-made marina in Europe, covering 127 acres? So if you fancy mixing with the yacht-set and lounging in comfort by the sea, this is the ideal place to while away some time.
The marina also offers a range of bars and restaurants that cater to all tastes with some notable places using freshly caught local fish and seafood for a really authentic taste of Brighton.
Brighton Marina is also home to a fantastic 26 lane bowling alley at the Hollywood Bowl. There are a bar and diner inside along with amusements to keep the kids busy and to help burn off some energy.
Every weekend from May to August you can enjoy a wide variety of very talented live buskers and street performers who will entertain you along the marina boardwalk. These guys really add an uplifting vibe to the area and will make your stay an even more pleasant one.
BRIGHTON SEAFRONT HOTELS
Did you know that there are an estimated 614,600,000 pebbles sitting on the 6 mile stretch of beach? We don’t actually know the exact number because no-one has been bothered to count them all…..yet!
There are a number of seafront hotels in Brighton some of which are very conveniently placed for easy access to all the attractions of the city as well as the iconic Palace Pier and beach-front.
Of course, we are going to recommend that you stay with us at the Queens Hotel Brighton. Where else are you going to benefit from staying in a stunning period hotel with bright and airy hotel rooms with spectacular seafront views!
The great advantage of booking with the Queens Hotel is the fact that we can offer you very comfortable rooms with crisp white bed linen, en-suite bathroom plus free tea and coffee making facilities, but also the fact that we are very well placed to make it easy for you to access all the delights that Brighton has to offer.
We are not situated out of town where you may face a long walk or bus ride to get into town to enjoy yourself. You can simply step out of our front door and take a gentle stroll along the seafront and take in the wonderful sea views.
